Nancy Anne Tousley was received by the Lord in Traverse City on November 2, 2019, at the age of 90. She was a long-time resident of Traverse City and also enjoyed spending time in Northville and Marco Island, FL. She was born in Cincinnati, OH on May 6, 1929. She worked for many years as a Registered Nurse for a family practice physician in Detroit. Nancy’s primary enjoyment was her flower gardens in Traverse City where she spent most of her time. Her other interests included painting, quilting, reading, shelling in Marco Island, ceramics, knitting, and crafting. She and her son Marc were avid fans of the Red Wings and Tigers, and she was very vocal about the Tigers’ lack of success the last few years. She made many phone calls to Marc to banter about the plays of the games. Nancy left the following thoughts from an article she found for her husband and children to celebrate her mission here, which has now been completed. “Death is nothing at all. It does not count. I have only slipped away into the next room. Nothing has happened. Everything remains exactly as it was. I am I, and you are you, and the old life that we lived fondly together is untouched, unchanged. Whatever we were to each other, that we are still. Call me by the old familiar name. Speak of me in the easy way which you always used. Put no difference into your tone. Wear no forced air of solemnity or sorrow. Laugh as we always laughed at the little jokes that we enjoyed together. Play, smile, think of me, pray for me. Let my name be ever the household word that it always was. Let it be spoken without effort, without the ghost of a shadow upon it. Life means all that it ever meant. It is the same as it ever was. There is absolute and unbroken continuity. What is this death but a negligible accident? Why should I be out of mind because I am out of sight? I am but waiting for you, for an interval, somewhere very near, just around the corner. All is well.” Nancy is preceded in death by her son, Marc Stephen. Nancy is survived by her loving husband, of 47 years, Paul who was a graduate of Traverse City Central in 1953; is lovingly remembered by her daughter Terry (Phil), son Mike; step children David (Pamela), Ann (Ron); granddaughters Jennifer (Jeffrey), Melissa (Raymond), Nicole (Michael); step-grandchildren John, Bryan (Hina), Joshua, Scott; her five great-grandchildren Morgan, Colton, Bennett, Hudson, Theodore; and her step great-grandchild Sanaya. A memorial will be held on Saturday, November 9, 2019 at L. J. Griffin Funeral Home, Northrop-Sassaman Chapel, 19091 Northville Road (at 7 Mile Road), Northville, MI 48168, from 2:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Salvation Army of Plymouth Michigan at https://centralusa.salvationarmy.org/plymouth Arrangements were made by Wolfe-O’Neill Funeral Home, our family serving yours.
