Marjorie Ann Forton, 85, of Traverse City, Michigan, went to Heaven on Sunday, January 10, 2021, to be with our Lord Jesus Christ. During her life she loved to work and help others. Her abundance of compassion and grace gave so much encouragement and support to all those who knew her. As a youngster, she worked with her family on a dairy farm in Lake Leelanau. That parlayed into laborer at Essex Wire where she met her best friend Jeanette Frankfort. She had co-ownership of Gambles Furniture and Maple City Tavern. Her career finished with housekeeping at Munson Medical Center in Traverse City. She always set an example for how work was to be done, and let you know about it if she thought you needed some guidance. It did not matter the job she was doing, it just mattered how well it was done. As servants, we are called to work wholeheartedly for the Lord and not for human masters. Marge was a great example of this and worked at everything 100% whether it was on her days off at home or at work. As counselor, Marge offered her loving friendship and support. Her support was given with unconditional love and always striving towards reconciliation. She enjoyed cross country skiing with Josephine, walking and walking some more, word search puzzles, playing cards and badminton with her grandchildren, and reading her Bible. Marjorie was born January 24, 1935 in Lake Leelanau, Michigan, the daughter of William and Violet (Thiselle) Schaub. Marjorie is survived by her children, Gregory (Katrena Jane) and Timothy (Dianne) Forton; her siblings Vern Schaub, Marie Schaub, Josephine Gauthier; and her grandchildren, Timothy Forton, Gregory Forton Jr., Violet Forton, Robert (Laney) Forton, and Heather Forton. She was preceded in death by her parents, a son Gary Forton, and her siblings Leo, Leonard, and Art Schaub and Johanna Peplinski. A joint Life Celebration ceremony in Lake Leelanau will be announced in the Spring of 2021, with her brother’s family, Leonard Schaub, who recently preceded her in passing to our Lord Jesus Christ on December 17, 2020 in Lake Leelanau. Subsequent to Leonard’s passing she awoke one morning and asked, “Is Leonard here?” She felt his present at that moment and now we know the rest of the story, praise God our Lord and Savior. Memorials may be directed to Cherry Hill Haven who were instrumental in her care. A special thanks from the family to all her caretakers (co-workers) at Cherry Hill Haven who showed her so much loving care and support. Your Team exemplified and paid her back on Servanthood.
