    Loraine A. Sheahen

    January 12, 1931 - February 8, 2018

    Loraine Sheahen passed peacefully at Kalkaska Memorial Health Center-Eden Center on February 8, 2018. Loraine was born January 12, 1931 in Arlington Heights, IL, daughter of the late Mathilda and Herbert Mensching. She was united in marriage to Gerald Sheahen in 1951. He preceded her in death on September 22, 2012. They were happily married for 61 years. Loraine was raised in Arlington Heights, graduated from Arlington Heights H.S. and attended Concord College. At a young age, she helped her mother, Mathilda organize fashion shows and operate the Loraine Anne Shop in Arlington Heights. She was a life-long, dedicated member of the Republican Party and once served as an aide to U.S. Representative Philip Crane. She was a den mother for her sons’ cub scouting. She also enjoyed being a real estate agent. Loraine and Jerry raised five sons before moving to Livonia, MI. where Jerry accepted a new job and after his death she relocated to Kalkaska, MI to be close to her sons. For many years, Loraine loved sharing weekends and summers with family at their authentic log cabin on Manistee Lake. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a son, Michael G. Sheahen in 1985 and a brother, Stanley Mensching. She is survived by her children Kevin (Lynn) Sheahen, Pittsburgh, PA, Patrick Sheahen, Phoenix, AZ, Timothy (Juli) Sheahen, Gaylord, MI and Gerald “Chip” Sheahen, Jr., Kalkaska, MI; grandchildren: Melissa (Matthew) Lux, Dr. Maureen (Douglas) Schwegman, Emily (Matthew) Feller, William G. Sheahen, Elizabeth (Daniel) Eyrolles, Matthew Wyant, Katrina (Robert) Tarasi, Jennifer (Brian) Coles, Brandon Reed, Carsen Sheahen, Gabriel Sheahen and Kurt Sheahen, 11 great grandchildren and nieces and nephews. A visitation will begin on Saturday, February 10, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. with a funeral service at 1:00 p.m. at Wolfe-O'Neill Funeral Home. Loraine will be laid to rest next to her husband Gerald Sheahen at Great Lakes National Cemetery in Holly, MI A special thank you to the nurses and staff at the Eden Center who take such great care of Loraine. In lieu of flowers, a memorial contribution can be made in Loraine’s behalf to Kalkaska Memorial Health Center-Green House, 419 S. Coral St. Kalkaska, MI 49646. Arrangements were made by Wolfe-O’Neill Funeral Home, our family servings yours.
