    March 18, 1942 - October 29, 2013

    Leonard P. Waclawski, 71 of South Boardman, passed away on Tuesday, October 29, 2013 at home. He was born on March 18, 1942 in Detroit, the son of the late Leonard B. and Anna (Nadolski) Waclawski; loving husband of Diane; devoted father of Phillip P. of Mesa, AZ, Douglas J. (Michelle) of Homer, Alaska, Randy L. (Patty Hickman) of Traverse City, Robbie J. (Jodi) of Clio, Rebecca J. Curtis of Fort Collins, CO, Keith L. of Traverse City, Aaron J. of Kalkaska, Melissa A. (Alan) Butterfield of Culpeper, VA, Keri L. (Charles) Plumbley of Midland and Joshua M. of Panama City Beach, FL; beloved grandfather of Aurora, Jenna, Denver, Ethan, Amber, Lauren, Kendall and Luke; cherished brother of Grace Plesha of Cedar and Thomas (Marge) Waclawski of Traverse City.Leonard’s calling was to teach and that he did for 36 years before retiring. For 32 years he taught at the Kalkaska Elementary School. Leonard loved teaching and enjoyed children. As a young man he served as an alter server at Holy Rosary in Cedar, Lector and a Eucharistic Minister at both St. Mary of the Woods and St. Aloysius. Leonard married Diane M. Elsenheimer on June 27, 1964 in Traverse City. He was a member of St. Aloysious and the Knights of Columbus. Leonard could always make you laugh and will be missed by all who knew and loved him.Proceeding Leonard in death is his infant daughter, Laura; sister, Terry Thomas; brother- in-law’s, Steve Plesha, Art Elsenheimer and Gerald Elsenheimer.A memorial Mass will be on Saturday, November 2nd at 11:00 am at St. Aloysious with Reverend Norman Dickson officiating. Burial will be at St. Aloysious Cemetery.Memorials may be given to the Discalced Carmelite Nuns Monastery, 3501 Silver Lake Road, Traverse City, MI 49684 or the Father Fred Foundation, 826 Hastings, Traverse City, MI 49686Condolences can be left online at wolfeoneill.com.Arrangements were made by Wolfe-O’Neill Funeral Home, our family serving yours.
