Joseph J. Zolen, age 77, passed away on Tuesday, February 5, 2013 at Munson Hospice House in Traverse City. He was born on April 25, 1935 in Huta, Poland to the late Alexander and Bernice (Czarnecki) Zoledziewski.Joseph served his country as a member of the United States Army. He married the former Maxine Nower on July 4, 1959 in Bangor, MI. Together they raised 7 children. Joseph retired from Gulf & Western after 35 years of service. He was a member of St. Mary of the Woods Catholic Church.Joseph loved riding his Harley motorcycle, snowmobiling, and dirt bike riding. He also enjoyed hunting.Joseph is survived by his devoted wife of 53 years, Maxine; his loving children, David Zolen of Kalkaska, Mary Therese Colton of Belding, Bernadette Hausermann of Portage, Robert (Vicki) Zolen of Hudsonville, Chris (Deborah) Zolen of Kalkaska, and Diva Darlington of Long Beach, CA; his dear brothers & sisters, Steve (Karla) Zolen of Greenville, TN, Harriet Czeswkski of Rockford, IL, John (Lil) Zolen of Il, Raymond (Diane) Zoledziewski of TN, and Mary Ann (Rick) Milnes of Il; 16 cherished grandchildren; and 4 precious great-grandchildren.He was preceded in death by his son James Zolen in 1982, his granddaughter Joy Colton in 1984 and his-son-in law Mark Hausermann in 2008.A memorial mass will be held on Monday, February 11, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Mary of the Woods Catholic Church with Reverend Norman Dickson, S. J. officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service.Memorial contributions may be given to St. Mary of the Woods Catholic Church, 438 County Road 612, Kalkaska, MI 49646.Arrangements were made by Wolfe-O’Neill Funeral Home, our family serving yours.
