Joseph Michael Switek of Fife Lake, Michigan formerly of Wyoming, Michigan lost a brief battle with cancer at his home on March 16, 2022. Joe as he was known to family and friends was born February 8, 1961, to Donald J. and Shirley M. Switek, the youngest of their five boys. He was a 1979 graduate of Godwin Heights Public High School after which he began his career in the commercial roofing industry with several companies and maintained his homestead in Wyoming until relocating to Fife Lake twenty years ago. Joe shared his talent and professional craftsmanship many times over the years by providing his labor free of charge for some who could not afford that cost. He did not cut corners and refused to do anything less than a near perfect job. He is preceded in death by his father, Donald; daughter, Amy; and grandparents Leon and Matilda Switek and John and Florence Beckers. He is survived by his grandson and adopted son, Logan Switek; grandson, Caden Hoffman; mother, Shirley of Wyoming, MI and brothers: Gregory (Judy) of Ironwood, MI; Daniel (Eva) of Grand Rapids, MI: Mark (Sara) of Anaconda MT; and Matthew (Dorothy) Switek of Caledonia, MI; a daughter Teresa Bullard of Tucson, AZ. Also surviving is special friend Ashley Curtis and her son Rhett plus several nieces and nephews and their families. The Family is grateful for the opportunity to gather for a celebration of Joe’s last birthday which included special treats that had become a family tradition. Special thanks are given to the caregivers of Munson Cowell Family Cancer Center and Hospice of Michigan, both of Traverse City, MI. In leu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice of Michigan, 10850 E Traverse Hwy, Suite 1155 Traverse City, Michigan 49684 Cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held at St. John Vianney Church, 4101 Clyde Park Ave SW, Wyoming, MI at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, March 22, 2022, with visitation to begin at 10:00 AM. Internment and a celebration of life gathering will take place at a later date. Cremation arrangements provided by Wolfe-O’Neill Funeral Home, our family serving yours.
