Helen Golenko Sanabria, 94, passed away peacefully Christmas morning. The second daughter of hardworking immigrants, Anna Radocha and Ferdinand Golenko (Fred). Helen attended Queen of Angels grade school and Amundsen High School in Chicago. She married twice and raised her children in Wilmette and Northbrook, Illinois. Helen was proud of being an independent women and started "Independent Security Corporation" a small finance company, helping Chicago area consumers purchase state of the art, new televisions manufactured by the American Television Corporation, which was founded by her second husband, television pioneer, Ulises A. Sanabria. She quickly expanded into other products and successfully ran her business for decades. Mrs. Sanabria summered in Acme, MI for more than 40 years, then permanently moved there when she retired. She often expressed her good fortune to live amongst such natural beauty. Helen made a generous legacy donation of land to the Grand Traverse Regional Land Conservancy and was a constant supporter of the Cherryland Humane Society, among others. She was a devoted supporter of animals, especially cats. A long time member of the Grand Traverse resort, Helen loved to keep fit swimming and socializing with friends and family and was a parishioner of Christ the King Church. Helen is survived by her three daughters, a son, seven grandchildren and one great-grandson. Remembrances may be posted on www.wolfeoneill.com.
