Deborah Florence "Debbie" Schauer, 72 of Mancelona, passed away peacefully at home with her family by her side, on April 17th, 2024. Debbie was born on May 17th, 1951, in Pontiac, MI to Oscar and Shirley Schauer. Debbie was the second oldest of five children. She was the only girl in her family; needless to say, she knew how to hunt, fish and ride with the boys. She went to Pontiac Northern High School. In the 80s they moved up north, living in both Mancelona and Bellaire at one point in time. Debbie’s pride and joy were her boys and her family. Debbie raised Brandon and Justin as a single mom with the help of her parents. She worked hard to provide the best life she could. It wasn't an easy road, but they walked it together. Growing up the boys never had to ask to have someone spend the night. Their friends were always welcome over to stay the night, no questions asked. In 1994, Mark and Debbie met and had been inseparable ever since. Brandon and Justin were teenagers. They have been together for 30 years. What a blessed life it's been. Mark and Deb enjoyed fishing, going to the casino together, going to the MMA fights to watch Brandon, listening to Justin play guitar, attending the grandkids sporting events, gardening and of course shopping. Most importantly they battled life storms together. For many years, Debbie managed the Lakes of the North Clubhouse. You could find her driving through the curvy hills in her convertible with the top down. Debbie loved her hotrods, a passion handed down from her parents. She owned a few including multiple Mustangs and her El Camino. Debbie loved her family deeply. Some of the most memorable times were always Christmas. She loved the lights, décor and family time and she loved buying presents for everyone. She enjoyed music, dancing, and having beach or pool days. Debbie had a flair for fashion; she loved her jewelry and fancy hats. She loved animals, having some amazing dogs in her life, as well as tamed birds, even a horse. We had 3 fabulous family vacations in Florida and Mark and Deb went to Vegas numerous times. Debbie is survived by her longtime partner Mark McCaig. She has two sons, Brandon (Mary) Schauer and Justin Schauer (Kristin Grabruck); six grandchildren, Taylor Schauer, Angel Schauer, Coby Schauer, Brandon Schauer II, Miklo Meadows, and Evelyn Robbins. one great grandson Ragnar. She is also survived by her brother Steve (Sue) Schauer and Rocky Schauer. She also has two nieces Kimberly and Heidi, and a nephew Steve and her pup Ringo. She was preceded in death by her parents, her older brother Scott, and younger brother Greg, sister-in-law Bettie, and her beloved pups Harley, Susie, Bronco and Buddy. The family plans on having a celebration of life for Debbie later this summer. Arrangements provided by Wolfe-O'Neill Funeral Home, our family serving yours.
