W. Dee Rindlisbacher, age 76, peacefully passed away surrounded by family at his home in Traverse City on Wednesday, July 27, 2011. He was born on August 24, 1934 in Salt Lake City, Utah to the late Lester R. and Ethel H. (Newby) Rindlisbacher.Dee served his country proudly as a member of the United States Army. He married the former E. Julane "Julie" Lee on July 6, 1956 in Emmett, ID. They moved to Traverse City from Canton, MI in 1987. Together the raised 7 wonderful children.Dee earned an Associate's Degree from Idaho State College in 1957. He was a Master Electrician and was instrumental in designing the lighting on the Mackinaw Bridge. Dee retired from the Federal Aviation Administration March, 1991 with over 33 years of dedicated service.He was an active member of the Traverse City Branch of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. Dee served the members of his church in many capacities but his favorite calling was serving the young men in the Scouting program. He was a Scout Master for 40 years and a Unit Commissioner for 20 years. Dee also earned the prestigious Silver Beaver Award for the positive impact he had on the lives of youth through service given to the Boy Scouts.Dee is survived by his devoted wife of 55 years, Julie; his loving children, Kim J. (Vicki E.) Rindlisbacher of Traverse City, Paul W. Rindlisbacher of Traverse City, Sara Lee (Dale) Truman of Morley, Sandra Dee (John) Hannon of Sand Lake, Dean O. (Toni) Rindlisbacher of Cincinnati,OH, Susan Deon (Kevin) Cookston of Atlanta, GA, and Monte Kaye (Jackie) Rindlisbacher of Traverse City; 29 cherished grandchildren; 15 precious great-grandchildren; and his dear siblings, Aloah (Bud) Porter of Provo, UT, Iris Larsen of OR, Verron (Joan) Rindlisbacher of Vale, OR, Gay (Boyd) Dahle of TX, Elwood (Ardella) Rindlisbacher of St. George, UT, and Claudia Rindlisbacher of Emmett, ID.Dee was preceded in death by his parents; 2 sisters, Adell Burr and LaRae Jabbs; and his son, Mike L. Rindlisbacher who passed away in 1962.Funeral services for Dee will be held on Saturday, August 6, 2011 at 3:00 p.m. at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in Traverse City. President Thor Mikesell will be officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service.Memorial contributions may be given to the LDS Mission Fund for his grandson Timothy J.
