Shirley Ann Robinson passed away peacefully in her hometown of Kalkaska, Michigan, on Saturday, April 27, 2024, at the age of 86. Known for her outgoing, people-loving nature, Shirley was known by many and loved by all. Her generosity and warmth touched the lives of all who knew her, from her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren to the countless friends she made in her beloved community. Shirley was born in Kalkaska on October 29, 1937, to William and Grace (Reed) Robinson. Raised on a farm in Kalkaska with eleven siblings, the family became the center of her entire life. A single mom during a time when it was unaccepted, she remained resilient and dedicated to providing for her daughters. Her love for her family knew no bounds, and this simple love carried through to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, as she spoiled them with gifts, sleepovers, and unconditional love. She loved birds, bingo, and talking to everyone and anyone. She was known for her playful spirit, her spunky nature, and candid thoughts—always with a smile on her face. Her unwavering strength and ability to find joy in life’s simple pleasures left a lasting impact on all who knew her, making her a cherished matriarch in her family. She is survived by her four daughters, Kathleen (Paul) Matthews, Robin Aquino, Janet Robinson, and Ami Jo (Tim) Fisher; sisters, Alice Brigham, Joyce Kraeyveld, Terri (Larry) Jones, and Lynn Way; grandchildren, Verne Merritt, Shiloh (Brendan) Bilovus, Lacey (Daniel Smith) Matthews, Travis (Alexandra) Matthews, Ryan Matthews, Daniel Robinson, Zach Aquino, Ashley Aquino, Joey (Paige) Fisher, and Kaitlyn (Jake Carr) Fisher; nine great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, William, and Grace Robinson; daughter, Theresa Ann Merritt; son-in-law, Reggie Aquino; sisters, Ruth (Richard) Miller, Rose (Benny) Battaglio, Wilma (David) Huff, Margaret Robinson, and Danelle Robinson; brother, Patrick (Linda, Edie) Robinson; brothers-in-law Jack Brigham, Greg Way, and Richard Kraeyveld; and former husband Frank Pearson. The family will receive friends on Sunday, May 5, 2024, at Wolfe-O’Neill Funeral Home from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home. A funeral service will be held on Monday, May 6, 2024, at Wolfe-O’Neill Funeral Home, at 1:00 p.m. The family will receive friends beginning at 12:00 p.m. until the time of service at the funeral home.
