Randall Allen “Randy” Thomas, age 47, of Williamsburg, formerly of Kalkaska, passed away on Sunday, July 20, 2014 at University of Michigan Hospital in Ann Arbor from complications due to cancer surgery. He was born on April 5, 1967 in Midland to Larry Allen and Emily Jane (Pace) Thomas.Randy graduated from Glen Lake High School in 1985. He married Melissa Lynn Hargreaves on December 28, 1996 in Glen Arbor. Together they were raising 2 beautiful children that were their pride and joy. Randy loved watching Hayden play hockey and enjoyed Callie singing.He was a business owner and worked in the underground utilities construction industry. Randy was greatly respected by his employees and became good friends with them all. He loved spending time in the great outdoors of Northern Michigan and enjoyed all outdoor sports. He loved to cook and had been an Executive Chef. Randy was fun to be around and made friends wherever he went. His favorite thing to do was spending time with his family and friends. He will be deeply missed by all those that knew and loved him.Randy is survived by his loving wife of 17 years, Melissa Lynn; his cherished children, Josselyn Christine age 23 of Stillwater,MN, Hayden Allen age 13 of Williamsburg, and Callie Jane age 11 of Williamsburg; his brothers, Troy Anthony Thomas of Moses Lake, WA, Douglas James (Tonya) Thomas of Williamsburg, and Briant Jason (Susan) Thomas of Traverse City; his sisters-in-law, Lorriann (Kevin) Heneveld of North Pole, AK, Katrina Hargreaves-Lee of Dowagiac, and Amy (Mark) Rudolph of Hamilton; his dear parents, Larry and Emily Thomas of Traverse City; and many nieces and nephews.Visitation for Randy will be held on Friday, July 25, 2014 from 1-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. at Wolfe-O’Neill Funeral Home in Kalkaska. A memorial service will be held on Saturday at 1:00 p.m. at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints District Center on Veterans Drive in Traverse City. Additional visitation will be held the 2 hours prior to the service on Saturday.The family requests pictures to create memory books for the children. There will be a drop off spot at the visitation and service for these.Memorials may be given to the children’s education fund, payable to Melissa Thomas, c/o 106 S.
