Our dear mother Mildred Anne Wagenschutz (Rowell) earned her wings on September 4, 2023, at the age of 76 after a courageous battle with cancer. She was surrounded by her loved ones at her home. in Kalkaska. Anne was an amazing wife, mother, sister, and friend to all. She was always there when we needed her. She was a well-loved member of our community. Always available with a helping hand, not only with her great cooking and baking skills, but with her time and energy also. One of her many passions was the VFW Post 8684 where she was a member for over 50 years. She served as President for over 10 years, and was honored to hold many other offices over the years. She was always excited to meet new people with a beautiful smile and an open heart, you may have walked in as a stranger, but you left as a friend. Anne will be greatly missed by her McLean’s Hardware family as she worked there for over 30 years. Anne had a such a compassionate and loving spirit and was ready to jump in and help anyone in need. Anne is survived by her devoted husband, William “Bill” Wagenschutz of over 60 years, daughter Marsha Ricevuto, son Robert “Bob” (Kelly) Wagenschutz, and Jamie Helsel, ten grandchildren and two great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. As well as the countless number of beloved individuals who became family as she took them under her wing. Many people had their own unique names for her; Auntie, Miss Anne or Momacita. She had a heart of gold that touched anyone that came into her life. Her surviving siblings are Janet Daniels, Richard (Phyllis) Rowell, Robert (Gay) Rowell, James Rowell, Julie (Brian) Shephard. Anne was preceded in death by her parents, Woodrow and Beatrice Rowell and sister Marion Shaw. Her strength and grace were an inspiration to us all. She is very loved and will be missed terribly. We will carry her memory in our hearts forever. It’s extremely comforting to know that she went to Heaven on the wings of a snow-white dove. A Celebration of Life for Anne will be held on Thursday, September 7, 2023, at 6:00 p.m. at the VFW Post 8684, 408 Hyde Street, Kalkaska.
