Julie “Jules” A. LaLonde, 56 of Grawn, passed away on Friday, June 17, 2016 at her home after a 7 month hard fought battle with lung cancer. She was born on December 17, 1959.Julie was proceeded in death by her father, Robert Mason, Sr.Julie is survived by her loving husband, Paul; and her beloved dog, Oreo; her mother, Betty Mason of Grand Rapids; brother, Robert (Lori) Mason, Jr.; niece and nephew, Bo and Monica Mason of Grand Rapids; and many aunts, uncles and cousins in Iowa.Julie grew up in Grand Rapids, on the weekends her family would come to the Mud Lake area where they owned property. Julie’s dad purchased a Honda trail bike, which she rode the day lights out of! Soon a second Honda trail bike was needed, they terrorized the whole Mud Lake area.Growing older she moved to the Traverse City area. Paul and Julie were introduced by a friend in 96-97, they got married at Cycle Moore in 2000. In 2004 Paul bought Julie her own BIG Harley, so now they could both ride side by side.Julie also enjoyed camping, hunting, fishing and rafting the Manistee river in Michigan and Turkey River in Iowa.Julie worked at Munson Medical Center for 17 years, as a CPD Tech III. She loved her job and received numerous awards for saving the hospital money in her field.There is a ship outside, it’s sails are not full. Look Dad is there whistling the Woody Wood Pecker song, and waving his arm to come aboard. Julies’ bike is there, but she is still looking both ways. She is at the dock, looking at me and at Dad. She is not ready or sure which way to go. Her arms are out reached both ways, but Dad is pulling harder than Paul, there is no match. The wind is starting to fill the sails, and soon it will be time to board. The sails are full, and the ship is leaving, Paul could not hold against the power of the Lord. She gave me a kiss, a big smile, an “I Love You” and waved good-bye.A celebration for Julie will be on July 30, 2016 at 2:00 PM at Paul and Julie’s residence in Grawn. Cremation has taken place, memorials may be made to the American Lung Cancer Society, 55 W. Wacker Dr., Ste. 1150, Chicago, IL 60601. Arrangements were made by Wolfe-O’Neill Funeral Home in Kalkaska, our family serving yours.A special thanks to Munson Home care, Hospice of Michigan and Henrietta “Henri” Fabatz for being there for the long haul.
