Judy Marie Collins, 63, of Kalkaska, passed away Friday, August 26, 2016, unexpectedly due to COPD complications at her home in Kalkaska with her best friend Carol Bradley by her side. She was born on May 17, 1952 in Flint to Melvin and Rosella Collins. Judy was formally from the Genesee County area and attended Kersley Schools in Flint.Judy was known as just Ma to many, being a stay at home mother, she was loved by all her children’s friends. She had a raw sense of humor and brought laughter to everyone who knew her. Judy enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her children and grandchildren, including her fur child Sherman. She had a love for animals, working in her yard, an occasional trip to the casino and spending time with good friends.Judy has touched the hearts of many and will be sadly missed. She is survived by her mother, Rosella Collins, her 2 daughters Christina (Parkin) Morris, Cynthia (Parkin) DeRosia, son in-law Craig DeRosia, and son by love Jeffery Shewmaker, 10 loving grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren (and one on the way), best friend to the end Carol Bradley, 2 sisters Margret Lake and Rosemary Lukoen, several nieces and nephews, along with many other relatives and good friends.Judy was preceded in death by her son Jeffery Collins, her father Melvin Collins, sister Alice Ernst and niece Michelle Collins.Judy requested a private cremation, however her children would like to celebrate her life on 2 different occasions due to the holiday weekend. They would like to invite her friends from Kalkaska to join together at her home on Saturday, September 3, 2016 at 4pm. They are also requesting family and friends to come together at the home of Cyndi and Craig DeRosia at 2432 E. Pinconning Rd. Pinconning, MI 48650 on Saturday, September 10, 2016 at 4:30 pm, for a cook out and bonfire.Judy’s daughters would like to give a special thanks to Donna DeRosia and family for helping them with the funeral arrangements and expenses.
