Charles (Charlie) Parsons, 88, of Blue Lakes Township, passed peacefully on November 9, 2024. Charles was born on April 26, 1936, to the late William I. and Gloria M. (Campbell) Parsons in Detroit. Michigan. Beloved father of Carolyn (Dr. John) Brooks, Dr. Kenneth (Julie) Parsons, loving grandfather of Dr. Jacqueline (Kyle) Trondle, Kyle (Kaylee) Parsons, Andrew Brooks and Sarah Parsons. Dearest great grandfather of Kaden Parsons and Oliver Trondle and uncle to many nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his eldest brother, William Parsons and sister, Muriel Hahn. At age 20, he joined the US Army and was stationed in California where he became a master tank mechanic and marksman. Shortly after his honorable discharge, he married the love of his life, Patricia Evans, who he cherished for the 63 years of marriage before Pat went to be with the Lord last year. They began their lives together in Warren, Michigan and in 1979 moved to Washington Township to be in the country. Charlie was a mechanic at heart and went on to become a Tool and Die Maker. He excelled at the installation of and troubleshooting complex machines while at F. Joseph Lamb. After many years at Lamb, he went to work for Chrysler and retired in 1998. Charlie loved Blue Lake where his own parents retired in 1972. He and Pat moved there in 2011 so they could be up north full time. He was an avid outdoorsman with a passion for hunting and fishing. He loved to walk and ride his bike whenever he could. Charlie was always there to lend a helping hand to whoever needed it. He would take great pleasure in building or fixing things. He was extremely proud of his children and even prouder of his grandchildren. With the addition of two new great grandsons in the past year, he was delighted to spend time with each of them. In lieu of flowers, donations in Charles’ memory can be made to: American Legion Post 480, P.O. Box 205, Kalkaska, MI 49646 The family will receive friends on Saturday, November 23, 2024, at Wolfe-O'Neill Funeral Home from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. Interment will be held in Fairview Cemetery, Mancelona.
