A man who loved his family, friends, John Wayne movies, a good steak, NASCAR and the great outdoors has been called home. Gordon Anthony (Chick) Goldsberry, 88, passed away Friday, March 2 at Munson Medical Center in Traverse City surrounded by his family,
Born in Madison Center on Aug. 29, 1923, he was a resident of the Tecumseh, Adrian area his entire life. Chick (a nickname given to him by his beloved grandfather) proudly served in the United States Army in Europe in World War II and returned to work at the Tecumseh Products for 30-plus years and for Selders Excavating for many years. After retiring from the Products he started his own lawn service and was active through last fall. He loved his work, especially the Sundays spent cutting the lawn at Carpet Outlet in Adrian.
He is survived by his former wife, Dorothy Goldsberry of Tecumseh, son, Doug (Kathy) Goldsberry of Fife Lake, daughter Deborah (Joseph) Conklin of Traverse City, grandchildren Michael Goldsberry of Madison, Wisc., Michelle (Rebecca) Goldsberry of Knoxville, Tenn., Heather (Kenneth) Krajewski of St. Louis, Mo., and Matthew (Sarah) Conklin of St. Joseph, Mi., and seven great-grandchildren, Sarah, Cora, Leah, Wyatt, Audrey, Joseph and Caroline.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Anson Goldsberry and Mary Miller and infant son, Gordon Duane.
Cremation has taken place per his wishes. A memorial service will be held in Tecumseh in the spring.
